aboutplantar Fasciitis
Plantar Fasciitis is the diagnosis of inflamed tissue that attaches onto the heel bone in the foot.
The mechanical strain on this tissue is significant, it is both compressed under load and pulled as the foot spreads out with ground contact.
A person with Plantar Fasciitis often has significant pain when first standing after rest.

aboutPlantar fasciitis
Plantar Fasciitis is best confirmed as a diagnosis with ultrasound. The tissue at the bottom of our heel bone measures 3.5mm to 4.5mm when unaffected.
If the tissue is inflamed it not uncommon the see an increase in size duoble its normal measurement.
The most important self management advice is rest and cushioned footwear. If a person continujes to play sport or wear hard soled shoes then there is little chance for tissue recxovery.
Guided injection administered from the side of the heel are effective in decreasing inflammation and subsequent pain reduction. Rest and footwear changes still need to be applied.
With best management the condition typically lasts several months.
