The hip joints are large ball and sockets joints which allow for an excellent range of movement.

The power for climbing, lifting and running is delivered by the large and strong Gluteal Muscles.

 

 

Unfortunately, despite their size and strength they do not escape degenerative changes and quite often the muscular support becomes weakened, as we lead a more 'chair based' lifestyle.

 

Exercises to help 'switch on' the muscles and stretches to maintain good function are an essential part to keeping fit and healthy.
