aboutGolfers elbow
Golfers elbow is a tendon problem involving the muscles in the forearm that both flex the fingers and the wrist joint.
With continued use of hands during griping and pinching activities, these muscles and tendons can become sore and irritated.
Golfers elbow is less common than Tennis elbow, but again it typically affects persons who work in repetitive jobs involving strong grip.
aboutGolfers elbow
Golfers elbow refers to a tendinopathy of the forearm extensor tendons at their insertion onto the medial epicondyle. Please note this is the opposite side of the elbow to where Tennis Elbow affects a person.
Over use of these flexor tendons can lead to microscopic tears within the tendon which in turn initiate an inflammatory response.
When severely inflamed the pain can affects most activities. We use our grip continually in work and play situations; consequently, once the tendon is irritated the problem can persist for several months.
It is important to address all factors that influence the use of our grip. Changing the size of handles on frequently used equipment, gentle stretches between activities, avoidance when possible and rehabilitation.
